Michel Rostaing (Executive Partner)

Michel Rostaing, aged 64, was trained as a French Chartered Accountant and as an
International Financial analyst until he founded GPF in 2001. After a
30 years career in international equities - sales and dealing - he perceived the
need of small-medium businesses for a quality advisory service to deal with
Private Equity financiers.
In 1993 Michel created Kléber Investissements, a French equity boutique
specializing in the Primary Equity markets.
From 1991 to 1993, Michel was in charge of Primary Equity Sales at Swiss Bank
Corp in London. From 1981 to 1991 he was covering the London French speaking
European institutions on US equities for Salomon Brothers, then First Boston. In
the seventies, he was trained as a financial analyst and ran the International
Equity Dept at Credit Commercial de France - now HSBC - in Paris.
Born and raised in Bordeaux, he graduated from the local business school in
1965. He has been living in London since 1981 and also in Provence since 1994.
Michel is married and has two sons.

Bertrand Courtel (Partner,
France)
Bertrand Courtel, aged 46, co-founded GPF in 2001 in charge of French
mergers & acquisitions.
In the years 1998-2001, Bertrand Courtel was covering corporate accounts for an
Internet Financial services company. Previously, Bertrand was an independent
consultant in economic and market research.
He started his professional life in (the crash of) 1987, as a stock and
derivative trader, then became head of the derivative desk of Swiss Bank
Corporation in Paris, until its merger with Warburg in 1994.
Born and raised in Normandy, Bertrand graduated in mathematics from the Paris
University in 1984, and mastered in Econometrics in 1988.
Bertrand has lived in Provence since 2002; he is married with three children.

Hervé Simon (Partner, France/Real
Estate) Rest In Peace
Hervé Simon, aged 58, joined GPF in 2002 as
partner in charge of real estate financing.
In the eighties, Hervé created an independent international brokerage boutique
which he ran until 2002. Previously, Hervé was head of the International Equity
department of Credit Commercial de France in Paris, where he succeeded to Michel
Rostaing. In the seventies, he was a portfolio manager.
Hervé was born and raised in the South West of France. He received a master’s
degree in Economics from the University of Bordeaux. He now lives in the South
of Paris.
Hervé is married and has one son.

Robert Stein-Rostaing (Executive Partner, UK)

Robert Stein-Rostaing, aged 33, joined GPF in 2001
as a consultant in UK Mergers & Acquisitions and Commercial Property Finance and
as British resident partner.
Previously, he had successfully rode the Internet wave: At the age of 23 he
founded Cerberus Information Security Ltd., a business specialising in digital
security consulting, with the mission to defend corporate privacy and systems
from hackers. After growing the company into not only the most respected of it's
kind in Europe but also one of the largest product-independent digital security
consulting companies they were bought out in 2000 by
their main US competitor, @stake, which was then well supported by US VCs such
as Battery Ventures, and
recently strategically merged with Symantec.
Separately, Robert runs his own private investment portfolio, stretching into
various business sectors in the UK, Europe, the US and most recently Africa. He
has more recently established himself in the TV & Film business, creating
ToscaniStein Productions Ltd. and a joint venture called
Upgrade Productions
Ltd..
Robert was born in London where he has always lived. He studied at Trinity
College Glenalmond in Scotland and has a BSc in Geography from King's College,
London University.
